Nokia unveils new UMA VoIP cellphone
Nokia has partnered with France Telecom SA for the first release of their new UMA phone. It is going to be packaged under Orange brand along with LiveBox – a service offering phone, TV and internet in Belgium, Britain, France, Poland, Spain and Netherlands.
It is going to offer a smooth switching between the public, free wifi VoIP calls and the traditional cellular phone calls.
"Then you walk out of the door and the call is seamlessly handed off to the cellular network," said Nokia Executive Vice President Kai Oistamo. "There are no dropped calls — it‘s like moving from one cell to another one in a cellular network today."
